5 Day Fasting @ EBP Church
As we step into 2025, seeking God’s guidance, strength, and wisdom is the best way to begin the year. Psalm 121:1-2 reminds us:
“I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Starting the year by leaning on Him allows us to walk forward in faith, knowing He will direct our steps, provide for our needs, and sustain us through every challenge. It’s an act of surrender and trust, acknowledging that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).
Let this be a time of prayer, asking Him to lead us into His purpose for 2025, to bless our plans, and to grant us the peace and strength to navigate whatever lies ahead. When we seek His help, we are reminded that He is always with us, faithful to carry us through every moment of the new year.
Aligning your year with fasting, prayer, Bible study, and worship shows your desire to grow deeper in your relationship with Him. James 4:8 encourages this beautifully:
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
Fasting helps align our hearts with God’s will, clearing distractions and reminding us that we depend on Him alone (Matthew 6:16-18).
Prayer opens the door for intimacy with God, allowing us to seek His guidance, lay down our burdens, and align our desires with His (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Bible Study anchors us in truth, giving us wisdom and clarity to navigate life according to His Word (Psalm 119:105).
Worship shifts our focus to God, exalting Him above all else and deepening our gratitude and faith (John 4:24).
By dedicating yourselves to these spiritual disciplines, you’re creating space for God to work powerfully in your lives. May 2025 be a year where you experience His presence in profound ways, grow in faithfulness, and walk boldly in His purpose for you as you embrace “Something New” for your life.
5 day Fasting
  1. Love (Monday)
Love is the foundation of our faith, and your focus on these aspects reflects the heart of God. As 1 John 4:16 says:
“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
  • Love God: This is the greatest commandment. Loving Him with all your heart, soul, and strength (Matthew 22:37) is our ultimate purpose.
  • Love His Word: His Word is alive and life-giving, guiding us, teaching us, and drawing us closer to Him (Psalm 119:11, 105).
  • Love Others: Jesus calls us to love others as He has loved us (John 13:34). This love is patient, kind, and selfless, reflecting His grace to the world.
  • Love His Church: Loving the Church means cherishing and serving the Body of Christ, supporting and building up fellow believers (Ephesians 4:15-16).
When we center our lives on love, we embody the essence of God’s character. This kind of love transforms not only our hearts but the world around us, bringing glory to His name.
  1. Faithfulness (Tuesday)
Faithfulness to God is one of the greatest expressions of our love and trust in Him. It means staying steadfast in our commitment to Him, honoring His Word, and walking in obedience, even when challenges arise. As 1 Corinthians 4:2 says:
“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”
Being faithful to God involves:
  • Obedience: Following His commands and living according to His Word (John 14:15).
  • Consistency in Prayer: Staying connected with Him daily, seeking His will in all we do (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
  • Trust: Believing in His promises and His plans, even when we don’t understand (Proverbs 3:5-6).
  • Perseverance: Remaining committed through trials, knowing He is faithful to us in return (James 1:12).
  • Service: Using our gifts and time to serve His Kingdom and bring glory to His name (Colossians 3:23-24).
Faithfulness is not about perfection but about devotion—a heart that continually seeks Him and desires to honor Him. And the beauty of it all is that God’s faithfulness is unwavering; He strengthens us to remain faithful to Him. As 2 Timothy 2:13 reminds us:
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.”
May your faithfulness to God in 2025 deepen your relationship with Him and bring abundant spiritual growth.
  1. Guidance (Wednesday)
Seeking God’s guidance is one of the wisest and most faithful steps we can take in life. When we look to Him for direction, we acknowledge His sovereignty and trust in His perfect plans for us. Proverbs 3:5-6 beautifully reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Here are key ways to seek and receive God’s guidance:
A. Pray for Direction
Ask God to reveal His will for your life. Be open and patient, trusting His answers in His perfect timing (James 1:5).
B. Study His Word
The Bible is our guidebook, full of wisdom for every situation. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
C. Listen for His Voice
Spend time in silence and reflection, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart (John 10:27).
D. Seek Godly Counsel
Surround yourself with wise, faithful believers who can help discern God’s will for your life (Proverbs 15:22)
E. Walk in Obedience
When God reveals His direction, follow it with faith and trust, even if it challenges you (Isaiah 30:21).
D. Trust His Timing
God’s plans unfold in His time, not ours. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
When you lean on God for guidance, you can step forward with confidence, knowing that He will never lead you astray. His plans are always for your good and His glory (Jeremiah 29:11).
  1. Obedience (Thursday)
Obedience to God is a vital expression of our love, faith, and trust in Him. It reflects a heart that is fully surrendered to His will and aligned with His purpose. As Jesus said in John 14:15:
“If you love me, keep my commands.”
What Obedience to God Looks Like:
A. Submitting to His Word
• Obedience begins with knowing and living according to God’s Word. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
B. Trusting His Plans
Obedience requires trust, even when His plans don’t make sense to us. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to lean not on our own understanding but to trust Him fully.
C. Acting in Faith
Obedience often requires stepping out in faith, as Abraham did when God called him to leave his homeland (Genesis 12:1-4). Faith and obedience go hand in hand.
D. Surrendering Self-Will
True obedience means saying “no” to our desires and “yes” to God’s will, as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane: “Not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42).
E. Consistency in the Small Things
Obedience isn’t just about big decisions; it’s about daily faithfulness in the small things (Luke 16:10).
The Blessings of Obedience:
Closeness to God: Obedience deepens our relationship with Him (John 15:10).
Peace and Joy: Living in obedience brings peace, knowing we are walking in His will (Psalm 119:165).
God’s Favor: Obedience opens the door to God’s blessings and provisions (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
Encouragement:
Obedience to God is not always easy, but He gives us the strength to follow Him. Philippians 2:13 reminds us:
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.”
When we obey Him, we show our love for Him, glorify His name, and align ourselves with His perfect plan for our lives. It’s through obedience that we truly reflect His light to the world.
  1. Strength (Friday)
God is the ultimate source of strength, and His strength is available to us in every situation we face. In times of weakness, fear, or struggle, He provides the power, courage, and endurance we need. As Philippians 4:13 says:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Here are some key ways God provides strength:
A. Strength in Our Weakness
God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we feel weak, He is there to empower us. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 reminds us:
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
B. Strength Through the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, giving us the strength to endure and walk in obedience. Romans 8:11 says:
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.”
C. Strength for Every Day
God provides daily strength for each day’s challenges. Isaiah 40:29-31 encourages us:
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
D. Strength Through Prayer and Trust
When we turn to God in prayer, He gives us the strength we need. Trusting Him in all things makes us stronger in spirit. Isaiah 41:10 reassures us:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
E. Strength to Overcome Temptation and Trials
God provides strength to overcome temptation and face trials with perseverance. 1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us:
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
Encouragement:
God’s strength is not just physical but also spiritual and emotional. He equips us to endure, to overcome, and to keep moving forward in His power. When we feel weak, we can lean on His strength, knowing He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Through Him, we can face anything that comes our way, and His power will sustain us.
