Why is it important for you and I to attend church? The Word of God encourages us to come together to support each other and not stop congregating.

The Word says in Hebrews 10:24-25

“And let us consider one another to encourage one another to love and good works; not failing to gather together, as is the custom of some, but exhorting one another; and all the more, as you see that day approaching.”

The main reason we go to church is to worship God together with other believers.

Worship is our way of exalting God and thanking Him for who He is, and what He has done in us. Although we can of course do this anywhere on our own. God commanded his people to join other believers in worshiping him.

In church we hear the Gospel and it reminds us of God's amazing love and grace for us. In church we sing, pray, and learn together about our heavenly father. We hear testimonies from our brothers about how God has been working in their lives.

In church we encourage each other in difficult times. We get to work together to help and reach others for the glory of God. When we believe in Jesus and put all our faith in Him, we become members of God's family, our family of faith. The church is where we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus through the Holy Supper. The church is the place where we become part of the family of faith through baptism. It is where we give our tithes and offerings in obedience and as an expression of gratitude to God. Church is where we put God in His right place by giving Him primary attention at the beginning of each week.

Going to church is an important habit that we must form just like brushing our teeth or eating healthy foods. It is crucial that believers prioritize reestablishing the habit of meeting regularly. This discipline not only benefits us individually but also positively impacts those we influence. We come together to celebrate His love for us and it is where God wants us to be worshiping together. Church is for everyone!
